Review: Brunch at Tredwells, Covent Garden

By Dawn Louise,

What: Breakfast and brunch, with a wide selection of smoothies, fresh juices & breakfast cocktails

Why: I’d heard that Tredwell’s was popular for its decor as well as its food and drink, so I wanted to check it out

Where: A stone’s throw from Covent Garden, and Leicester Square

I headed out for brunch with my mum at Marcus Wareing’s Tredwell’s on a Saturday afternoon.

When we arrived, we were greeted by staff, and given a choice of table options – we decided on a cosy window seat. I couldn’t help but notice that the decor was very 1920s  – lots of golds, and blacks, with a bit of a jazz bar vibe about it…it was love at first sight for me!

I ordered a drink to start with, while checking out the menu. Drinks were served in really cool 1920s style cocktail glasses. I had a Breakfast Cocktail Margarita – made from tequila, marmalade, lemon, lime, orange and honey…really tasty! The menu also offered a wide selection of juices and smoothies, as well as tea and coffee.

After looking through the menu, I decided on The Full Tredwell’s (bacon, eggs, sausage, chorizo jam, truffled potato croquettes and toasted sourdough), and my mum went for the veggie version…The Full Veggie Tredwell’s (eggs, avocado, truffled potato croquettes, mushrooms, semi dried tomatoes and toasted sourdough). The food was brilliant. I always find it really difficult to find a brunch that fills you up, yet doesn’t make you so full that you just want to fall asleep. This was perfect.

After we’d eaten, we ordered a bottle of house white wine to wash it down. We drank, while chatting away for an hour or so. The staff were really attentive, and came over to check that we were okay on a couple of occasions. The wine we ordered was fresh, fruity and light, it was the perfect way to end our brunch.

We left feeling full, giggly and satisfied, and will definitely be back – book a table at Tredwells now!
